Because no one told them that no such thing exists...

"Corporate apologists constantly remind us that one day there will be..." self-driving trucks, drones to drop-ship packages to doorsteps, robots making hamburgers, computers doing every white collar job...

Perhaps. But unfortunately, there won't be any solvent consumers and no solvent corporations. And no free money bailouts for Wall Street. At which point all of the apologists for corporate automation and outsourcing will look like history's biggest fucking tools.
