"We" assume that "they" are inferior, hence they deserve their fate, working in the sweatshops that make the consumption oriented lifestyle possible.
"We" also assume that we are entitled to ever greater amounts of material gratification while they remain mired in abject poverty. That was the fateful lesson from 2008 that was totally ignored.
That false sense of entitlement and false sense of superiority is going to come at a steep price.
