All lies and liars carry a stench of decay about them. The bombastic Jim Jones's of the day broadcasting delusional narratives to galleries of zombies, wholly incapable of facing reality in any direction. Lining up in droves to the Kool-Aid stand.

What can you say about a decrepit society that has to lie about everything, by hiding at least half the truth? One that invents its own narrative, and then creates an entire fake news genre broadcasting its alternate reality to legions of Kool-Aid seekers? One that deems itself "exceptional" early and often, while everything circles the drain around them. Now, they're being suffocated by their own lies. Boxed in by years and decades of accumulated bullshit. One lie leading to the next bigger one. ISIS licking its lips at the prospect of snacking on comfort-seeking blow-hards. And I get that the Democrats are teeing up their own Captain of the Titanic, not to be confused with the current one. I don't take sides in the extended high school popularity contest. But it's the hard right turn away from the center in the past 30 years that is at the root of this fiasco. NeoCon Exceptionalism carpet bombing foreigners into embracing junk food and junk culture.

Such a level of decay and corruption would in no way be possible if it weren't for these demagogues leading the sheeple straight into the abyss. They are the alternate reality that makes collapse inevitable. Corrupt apologists for the status quo.
