Hedge fund manager Tim Seymour said it straight up in the last post - this trade war isn't about getting "manufacturing jobs back". After all, we learned via Mitt RomneyBot in 2012 that the fenced prisons in China housing Chinese slaves are quite alright by the management-set. Especially when compared to the 47% of American indolents, the likes of which were monetized by vulture capital firm Bain Capital:
"There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what ... who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... and so my job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives"
No, what this is now about is "intellectual property". As in, China and the other sweatshop nations can please continue to provide all of the cheap labour necessary to produce insane levels of Apple profit, as long as they don't "steal" the technology. It's the "I want my cake and eat it too strategy". Sadly, export mercantilism is a Faustian Bargain. It's impossible to outsource all aspects of production without losing control over the underlying technology.
What the U.S. now represents is a slave state in latent collapse. One in which the "citizens" outside the empire and within are merely varying degrees of cannon fodder to quarterly corporate profit.
Be that as it may, I suggest that the Clown-In-Chief is a hail Mary last ditch effort. A man who embodies the moral and spiritual bankruptcy of modern America. Now attempting to "MAGA" by picking the raisins out of the Globalized oatmeal while assuming the always-record profits will remain intact.
In other words, "they" meaning Roger Stone and his Russian affiliates, looked around to find an idiot dumb and arrogant enough to believe he could accomplish the impossible. And they found one.
Good luck Donny. Sleep well, knowing that you are not the true source of the problem. You were elected by the deaths of despair campaign strategy. And it's aiming for the final round of participants.
The people who voted for it.
