We're in the manic phase of the Wall Street bailout bubble:

What passes for happiness in this era, is merely manic euphoria fed by ever-greater external gratification...

Psychopathica: A Mentally Ill Society

Dopamine addiction has generated a mentally ill society, dependent upon pharmaceuticals, junk food, junk culture, and external gratification. Any reduction in "dosage" will cause extreme mental breakdown. That's why the concept of "less" never even enters the debate. The masses don't see the bubble, because they are the bubble. They were bred for bankruptcy. They can never accept less, only more - they were brainwashed from birth to always expect more. First they bankrupted their own generation. Then they bankrupted their children and grandchildren. How many generations will they bankrupt to sustain their consumption oriented lifestyle? All of them.

Don't Ask Don't Tell: "The Worst President Ever"

This mentally unstable, dopamine-addicted society elects its leaders based upon which one is the best liar. Expertly telling lies is the critical factor. Getting away with those lies is the ultimate form of success. George W. Bush created two massive military blunders, cut taxes for the ultra-wealthy, and gave Wall Street free license to bet against the middle class. He almost got away with it. It took literally seven and a half years before reality finally caught up with him. He was well liked - at least by his base - right up until the collapse, even though the lies were almost a decade old by then. Next Obama came along, the new Manchurian Candidate. He told all of the right lies to get elected. Now he is six years into an eight year term. He has turned a blind eye to all of Wall Street's continuing malfeasance, continued the military blunders, continued the cycle of foreign intervention, and made the Bush tax cut permanent. Basically he extended GWB's programs for two more terms. Even at this late juncture, the full implications of his era of deception have yet to be revealed to the "Don't ask, don't tell masses". Mitt Romney is saying that he would have been a better President than Obama. What does he mean - better at lying or better at getting away with it? Bush was branded the "Worst President Ever". Now Obama will inherit that mantle. Soon whomever takes over from Obama - Mickey Mouse? - will gain that honor. What we have in reality is the worst electorate ever. 

Bred for Bankruptcy

The consumption-oriented society was bred for bankruptcy. This generation bankrupted all of the future ones and sold the seed corn of the economy - entire industries, manufacturing capacity, intellectual property, engineering capability. Everything must go. Why? Because they were bred to only want more and never accept less. Half a trillion dollars every year goes into advertising budgets to convince people that they are dissatisfied with the status quo. They need one more iGadget, one more pill, one more widget to finally make them happy. Rats in a maze seeking their next ball of cheese.  

This is the Manic Phase

You know you are in the manic phase when asinine ideas that were questioned earlier, are no longer questioned. All of the malfeasance that I (and a few others) tee off on daily is merely no longer questioned. The masses at large are no longer capable of questioning the duration of their manic bubble. Their mental health is not stable enough to contemplate getting monkey-hammered the way they were in 2008. 

What is Shock Doctrine?

Self-explanatory of course. A term coined by Naomi Klein to describe the concept of taking advantage of major catastrophes in order to subvert regulations and public institutions to enhance profits and/or "change the rules" to benefit a subset of elites at the expense of broader society. 9/11 was the ultimate example of Shock Doctrine, it allowed the imposition of a police state, in broad daylight. Few dared to question the subversion of civil rights for fear of being labelled "unpatriotic". 2008 of course was another massive Shock event. To this day, society is still curled up in the fetal position and willing to give anything to anyone who will promise them that "it won't happen again".

We live in an old age home - sad and pathetic. 

Reality is catching up with Obama, the exact same way it caught up with Bush. When that happens, the demand for adult "incontinence products" will skyrocket. Invest accordingly.
