The government was owned outright by the rentier class and therefore executed all laws and policies to the benefit of the top .001% with the assistance of the 1% who carried out all orders.
The beleaguered working class had long ago become indentured servants within their own country. On paper they were deeply bankrupt when summing up their personal, Federal, Local and "pension" liabilities. Their benefits were bare minimal, their net assets were negative and they toiled away at ever-more difficult jobs, for ever-longer hours, for ever-less inflation-adjusted pay.
The state-censored media constantly reminded the wage slaves how lucky they were to live in their country and that everyone was far worse off in every other country - especially those evil CapitalistCommies over there in "ForeignLand", infringing on our territory and our way of life. The brainwashed wage slaves questioned none of it. The government took full advantage of this well constructed apparatus of fear to siphon hundreds of billions out of the real economy into the bloated and inefficient military industrial complex, wholly owned by government-affiliated cronies.
The wealthiest .001% from every country around the world, feted in Davos, Gstaad, Monaco, London, Paris etc., celebrating their well-deserved "success". They competed for who could have the most expensive mega-yacht, penthouse, sports team, wife etc. They toasted their Central Bank bukkake whores who had printed their combined trillions to new all time highs every year since 2008. And they laughed at the wage slaves toiling for the equivalent of millions of years of slave labour just to equal one of their years of Central Bank inflated wealth. What dumbfuck fools! Working for a living. Disposable human batteries.
The fascist government built up its spying apparatus to assure obedience to all laws. The central government also built up its domestic military, planning ahead for future anarchy. Civil rights were systematically dwindled under the auspice of domestic "terrorism". The aging populace, fearing anarchy, did not resist.
The Ponzi-economy required ever-cheaper wage slaves at the bottom in order to function, so when growth slowed and then reversed, the entire delusion was jeopardized. However, the arrogant, bloated and utterly incompetent government was too busy fiddle-fucking around with one foreign occupation or another to realize that its fabricated ponzi economy was collapsing in broad daylight. Crash came out of the clear blue sky, except for being plain as day inevitable.
